Leeds Coding Dojo

After a short intro, we'll get into groups/pairs or work solo - whatever people feel most comfortable with - and start building. We usually work through a kata, but we're open to suggestions, if there's something specific you'd like to cover, please let us know.

You choose how you want to work and what language you want to code in - this could be a language you are familiar with or new to. So far we have seen Python, Javascript, C#, VB, Rust and Elixir. This session is about collaborating with others, becoming a better developer and building your network, in a fun, relaxed environment.

Throughout we will be sharing ideas, discussing best practices and using this as an opportunity to learn from our fellow coders. There's no need to be a professional developer - if you're interested, come along.

Food and drinks will be provided, with vegetarian and vegan options available. All you need to do is bring a machine if you'd like to code along.

Architecture Kata

Back by popular demand, for our March meetup, we're hosting an Architecture Kata. Join us for this session and get the chance to flex your software architectural design muscles!

What's the format?
You'll be split into groups and have a business problem to solve. You'll be tasked with designing a technical architecture to meet that problem context.

As with real-life you'll have to manage various trade-offs in your design and interact with a Product Owner to clarify your questions.

At the end of the task you will showcase your architecture and technology choices back to the wider group as part of a group discussion and you'll be able to decide if you'd make any decisions differently after receiving feedback and seeing what other groups designed.

This session is all about collaborative learning, skill enhancement and networking in a relaxed environment. You don’t need to be experienced in Architecture to participate.

This is an excellent opportunity to try out Software Architecture in a collaborative, supportive and fun environment.

Food and Drinks
Pizza and drinks will be provided upon arrival, with vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options available.

Want to bring a friend? Great! Just ask them to RSVP so we know they are coming.

No need to bring your laptop this time, we will provide pens, paper and post-its for each group.

Newcastle Coding Dojo

After a brief introduction, we’ll dive into a coding kata, such as one from the Katalyst website. This is a collaborative and hands-on session, where we encourage pairing up and practicing Test Driven Development (TDD). The goal is to practice, learn from each other, and explore new approaches. There’s no pressure to arrive at a working solution.

You can code in the language of your choice – whether it's one you're proficient with, or one you're exploring for the first time. This session is all about collaboration, honing your skills, and expanding your network in a fun and relaxed setting.

Throughout the event, we’ll share ideas, discuss best practices, and take the opportunity to learn from one another. A basic knowledge of programming is recommended to get the most out of the session, but you don’t need to be an expert.

Food and drinks will be provided, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
